The regatta is New Zealands Largest and most anticipated annual centre board regatta, and it is always held over the first full weekend of December. Sailed in the superb sailing waters off Torbay Auckland it hosts the most commonly sailed centreboard dinghy classes. Each event has approximately 450 sailors, and as many as 60 support craft. This regatta is not just another regata it truly unique on the sailing calendar. No other regatta comes close to the size, professionalism, and the experience offered here. It is a must do for any keen sailor.
Although the regatta is predominantly youth there are many classes such as lasers, paper tiger, jollyboat and foiling moths which attract adult sailors. It is recognised by Yachting NZ as a 'significant regatta' which means the event has official judges on the water, and Yachting NZ resources etc for added drama.
