7th/8th December 2013
The regatta is sailed in the first weekend of December in the superb sailing waters off Torbay Auckland. It hosts the most commonly sailed centreboard dinghy classes in NZ.
Although the regatta is predominantly youth there are many classes such as lasers, paper tiger and jollyboat which attract significant numbers of adult sailors. The regatta has quickly become NZ's largest centreboard regatta and one of the most respected sailing events in Australasia. It is endorsed by Yachting NZ as a 'significant regatta' which means the event has official judges on the water etc for added drama.
The Sir Peter Blake Regatta is a unique celebration of Sir Peter's life, his values and his passion for sailing. The regatta has exclusive rights to the name and blessing for the event from the Sir Peter Blake Trust.
We are very pleased to announce that VOLVO have now joined the regatta as the Gold Sponsor, with a three year sponsorship deal completed in July. With this sort of backing it places New Zealand's premier sailing event, The Sir Peter Blake Torbay Regatta, in a great position for future years. This is the perfect culmination of many years work by a dedicated event team at Torbay Sailing Club, to create something that is attractive to sailors and to corporate sponsors. We look forward to the opportunities this will bring.
HARCOURTS COOPER AND CO and local agents Ian and Diane Dodds have agreed once again to be Silver Sponsors for 2013, after seeing the success of the event over the last two years . This means the Harcourts name will once again grace the Green Fleet course race bibs.
